Pippi Lane Studio ~ Mompreneur Series #1

Pippi Lane Studio ~ Mompreneur Series #1

When it comes to personalised press & prints and custom keepsakes we have found THE go-to brand. Pippi Lane Studio captures the moments we all treasure in life; the celebrations, the births, the good-times and equally the deaths, the heartache and the mourning that we all come to know, sooner or later (with the latter being our hope).

"Pippi Lane was born as way to hold onto my precious memories".

What a pleasure it is to speak with Pippi's owner, Em, on all things press, print, mems, motherhood and small business...

How did you come to create Pippi Lane Studio
"[It was] created as an outlet for the many poetic ramblings that otherwise get typed in my notes and never opened again. I became a mum in 2022 and realised just how desperately I wanted to freeze time and truly capture all the small, fleeting moments"
Yes I guess having those moments preserved somehow is something a lot of us could really appreciate years on. What an amazing offering. How did you go when you were first starting?
"The work I did for myself on a personal level was reciprocated very well by those who were starting to follow my journey and the requests to capture memories started flowing in. Pippi Lane quickly grew into a space where I could capture and recreate your precious memories as well as my own. It has led me to some very beautiful commemorative spaces as well,  honouring bereaved mothers with keepsakes of their angel babies and those seeking to preserve the warmth and joy of shared experiences with loved ones lost"
So not only do you offer special keepsakes for the good times, but the grieving ones as well. I can imagine working with mums to create a commemorative space for their loss is something so special and raw. I'm sure this hits home being a mother now too.
"I am proud of how far motherhood has pushed my bounds and how malleable I can be (I mean, it’s a lot! Am I right?). In the business realm, I am really grateful that I get the opportunity to hold space for each of you, no matter which journey you are trying to capture and I am proud of the direction that Pippi Lane is organically taking"
Have you always been in, or wanted to run, your own business? And what inspired you to be in business / do you have other mompreneurs you aspire to?
"I have explored many niches since my son Jagger was born...I had quite a tumultuous childhood, which encouraged me to pursue close friendships outside of my family circle. I was fortunate to find myself blended amongst a beautiful group of girls, who have remained my close friends for over 15 years now and are all insanely creative and talented... My first and longest standing favourite mompreneur would have to be my former high school art teacher and current founder of Bohemian Traders, Emily Berlach"
Yes! Mrs B is a wonder isn't she! And are you still local to where you grew up?
"I was born in Coffs Harbour and raised on the Central Coast and I now reside in the beautiful rolling hills of the Northern Rivers"
And whats your home style like?
"Scandi would have to be my favourite. I’m a huge fan of woody tones and minimalist, homely decor"
We are on the Gold Coast, so we will have to catch up for a spritz with some other mum's in business soon! I think Pippi and Bam Bam values align so cohesively too. At the end of the day, we both want our customers to have an experience - you with their memories and us with their spaces. This is the part of a mompreneur community we love! What would you say your goals are for Pippi over the next few years?
"For Pippi Lane to continue to grow organically and take the life course that is destined for. I would also love for this space to eventually break out of the realm of being a labour of love and for it to financially support myself as a single mum... For me to be able to live my days slow, by the sea and not just capturing these perfect moments, but live them out as enthusiastically as possible"
How beautifully said. I want all of that for you and more. And honestly, Pippi is such a treasure. There's not many businesses out there that exist just to hold our emotions and our human experiences - especially the sad ones. And lastly, if you could leave one nugget of gold for other mompreneurs, what would it be?
"Be gentle with yourself. Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it take a village to support yourself in business so don’t hesitate to connect with as many creatives as possible! And when I was starting out, the best advice I was given is ‘done is better then perfect"
A thousand percent touché to that! Done is always better than perfect. Thank you so much Em for your insights and love today.
